KANSAS CITY, Mo. — We’re hearing from district leaders after Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) passed its first bond since 1967. The historic milestone will help make upgrades to every school in the district. Leaders say the bond passing is years overdue, but are grateful for the community’s investment in the district. The $474 million bond passed with 85% of Tuesday’s votes. It means the district will finally be able to tackle years of deferred maintenance.

Police said one out of every three homicides in the metro is related to domestic violence. According to city officials, in 2024, there was a total of 12 domestic violence homicides for the year. So far this year, there have already been 12. “These tragedies are not just numbers; they are lives lost, they are homes broken, and they are trauma that ripples through our entire community,” said Mayor Pro Tem Ryana Parks-Shaw.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — This year, Park Hill South hosted 36 teams for the Greater Kansas City Regional First Robotics Competition. “It’s kind of like three-on-three basketball and that you have three teams working together on each side to get as many points as they can,” Assistant Coach for the Park Hill South Electromagnetic Panthers Bethany Harms said. Teams started building their robots in January and went through several designs before landing on the final product for competition.
