    NORMAL — Illinois State University and its faculty union have reached a tentative contract agreement, averting a strike after more than 13 months of negotiations. This agreement came on the 10th day after United Faculty of ISU, a chapter of University Professional of Illinois Local 4100 that represents about 650 tenure and tenure-track faculty members, filed an intent to strike with the Illinois Education Labor Relations Board following “overwhelming” support for strike authorization.

BLOOMINGTON — Before fatally shooting a 15-year-old boy in Bloomington last month, officers pleaded with him for roughly 10 minutes to drop a weapon that was later identified as an air pistol, according to reports and video footage released Tuesday. Illinois State Police released body-worn camera footage along with results of an investigation into the Feb. 25 death of Cole L.M. Turner.

    SHIRLEY — McLean County authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck and died Thursday morning. According to a news release from the McLean County Coroner’s Office, a 28-year-old man was hit on southbound Interstate 55, near Shirley.

    NORMAL — The Normal Town Council recommitted to its partnership with other McLean County municipalities to maintain the Route 66 bikeway. At Monday’s meeting, the council approved a resolution that updated its existing intergovernmental agreement for the development and maintenance of the bikeway across McLean County.
