HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Oregon Trail Rodeo is set to begin Friday night and run through the weekend, during Kool-Aid Days. The rodeo action will start at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Adams County Fairgrounds. Rodeo publicist Ruth Nicolaus said the preparations are year-round, and as soon as this event ends, they’ll start planning next year’s rodeo.

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Four years ago, the opportunity for cities and towns in Nebraska to have a Creative District came about. Kearney’s “The Bricks” is now one of 32 certified Creative Districts in Nebraska, including becoming the eighth in central Nebraska. In 2022, art brought $3.6 billion into Nebraska’s economy. The city will receive a $10,000 grant to start enhancing art in Kearney.

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After two years of construction, additions to St. Cecilia Middle and High School are complete. The school celebrated that achievement with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday. Where a pile of dirt once lay, closing off North Kansas Avenue, now stands $13 million in improvements. Father Cyrus Rowan, chief administrative officer, said the project is about providing a better learning environment for students.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The final two suspects connected to the murder of Todd Scherer at Fonner Park last year have learned their fate. Both Austin Kelly and Lane Harris appeared before judges Wednesday in Hall County District Court. AUSTIN KELLYFirst up for the day was 18-year-old Austin Kelly, who was convicted earlier this year on one count of conspiracy to commit robbery after taking a plea deal in the case.

AURORA, Neb. (KSNB) - Having enough bus drivers is important to ensure students can get to and from school. According to , there has been a severe shortage of bus drivers since the COVID-19 pandemic, and now that shortage is impacting a local school district. Due to lack of bus drivers, Aurora Public Schools is eliminating the districts last three remaining bus routes. They will maintain their five rural bus routes to remain in compliance with state law.
