ORLAND, Calif. -- Bloat, a condition that can be common in large, deep-chested dog breeds, has been confirmed as the cause of death of K-9 officer Dutch of the Orland Police Department. K-9 Dutch died on Monday from the condition, that can progress very rapidly and can result in death. Bloat is also referred to a gastic dilation volvulus. A pathologist in Davis confirmed what caused the K-9 officer's death. According to the Orland Police Department, K-9 Dutch was found in his kennel on Monday.

ANDERSON, Calif. -- Drivers are being asked to avoid the area of Laurie Ct. and Sharon Ave. in Anderson for work that is being done after an early morning structure fire and some neighborhood evacuations.  On Thursday morning at approximately 4:15 authorities responded to a fire in a home on the 3200 block of Laurie Court in Anderson. They said they were told that occupants were still inside the home, but by the time they arrived it was determined that the residents were able to self-evacuate.

CORNING, Calif. -- At approximately 1:20 a.m. Thursday morning, Corning police officers said they noticed two people passed out in a vehicle in a parking lot in the 1400 block of Solano Street. The welfare check soon turned into a drug arrest of a Washington state woman. Officers said they could see narcotics paraphernalia in plain view of the driver, Lisa K. Britton of Bonnie Lake, Washington.

CHICO, Calif. -- The Mendocino National Forest's Chico Seed Orchard will be closed Monday and Tuesday June 16-17 for public safety during pest control spraying. Gates will close at 12 noon on Monday, June 16, weather permitting. People will not be allowed to enter the property during the closure. The orchard is more than 200 acres in size and is used for plant breeding research and plant introduction from all over the world.

The previously postponed Gore Ranch prescribed burn off of Highway 273 in Shasta County near Westwood Village will take place on Monday, says CAL FIRE. The Gore Ranch is permanently protected by the Shasta Land Trust. It consists of more than 1500 acres of rollingn oak woodlands, serene pastures, and riparian habitat. The property is in an Open Space Area of Interest in the City of Redding's Parks, Trails and Open Space Master Plan.
