SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) - A Sun Prairie woman is turning a hobby into a side hustle. Melissa Loerke Hagan started her small business, ‘Mental Threads,’ last year. “I had been looming for years and I just found joy in it,” she said. Loerke Hagan free-hands every project with a loom and yarn including hats, dog and cat toys, even emotional support potatoes. “Which are very well-loved,” she said. Each product in her Sun Prairie apartment is made with a purpose.

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) - A Sun Prairie mother is grateful to be celebrating this Mother’s Day one year cancer-free. 29-year-old Lydia Dutcher was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer after giving birth to her first child in February 2024. Dutcher says she had a completely normal pregnancy. During labor, she developed an infection which was easily treated but lead doctors to sending her placenta to pathology for testing. “We went home from the hospital.

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - One person is dead and two people hurt after a crash near Madison on Friday afternoon. According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash happened on I-94 westbound near mile marker 240 just before 2 p.m. on Friday. WPS says three people were transported to area hospitals with varying degrees of injuries. One of them, an 89-year-old woman from Milwaukee, succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash while at the hospital.

Local flower shops prepare for the busy holidays like Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day, including Olson’s Flowers in Mount Horeb. “Mother’s Day is our busiest week of the year,” owner Kristen Dresen said. Dresen said her flower shop starts prepping all of the flowers early Monday morning the week of Mother’s Day.

The milestone marks two decades of the non-profit inspiring and empowering youth throughout the 11 counties across south central Wisconsin.
