MADISON, Wis. -- At 4:33 a.m., the Tammy Baldwin Press Team sent out a release notifying the press the incumbent senator declared victory in the U.S. Senate race. The AP has not called the race for Baldwin. 98% of the vote has been counted, and Baldwin leads GOP challenger Eric Hovde 49.3% to 48.6%.

MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Police Dept. said officers responded to 5924 Jackson Quarry Lane - Harmony Apartments - Thursday night, after callers said they heard multiple rounds discharged. At 8:23 p.m., officers arrived at Harmony Apartments. Officers weren't able to find any property damage or injured people, but they did find evidence of a shooting. MPD said detectives on the scene conducted interviews and an intensive investigation.

UPDATE: Smoke detectors alerted an elderly lady who was able to make it out of her house after the smoke was detected. She was located outside of the building when fire crews arrived. Crews were able to ventilate, getting the smoke out. There is an estimated $50-$75,000 in damages. BARABOO, Wis. -- The Sauk Co. Sheriff's Dept. said they're actively searching for a suspect who engaged police in a chase and fired shots at them, injuring one officer. At 11:06 p.m. Tuesday, an officer from the Sauk Prairie Police Dept. attempted a traffic stop on a red minivan for a possible intoxicated driver. The vehicle fled, disregarded traffic signs, and the officer started a pursuit. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on HWY 78.

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. -- A teen was injured in a shooting Wednesday night in the City of Sun Prairie, the Sun Prairie Police Dept. said. At about 9:05 p.m., police responded to a report of gunshots in the 600 block of Elizabeth Lane. Before officers arrived, an adult on the scene told them a teenager had been struck in the hand by gunfire. Police said they don't have any information indicating other people or property were hit with gunfire during the shooting.

MADISON, Wis. -- All lanes were blocked westbound at Whitney Way on the Beltline due to a crash just after midnight Wednesday. Dane County Dispatch said the call came in for a crash between two vehicles at 12:16 a.m., and that an occupant of one of the vehicles was trapped. Dispatch didn't have any information about the status of the efforts to free that person, or information on injuries or arrests.

MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Police Dept. temporarily closed a stretch of E. Washington Ave. after a hit-and-run Sunday night. MPD said a 40-year-old man was crossing E. Washington at about 10:50 p.m. when a dark colored sedan struck him. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police said the suspect vehicle fled the scene and hasn't been located. E. Washington was back open hours later. This is a developing story.
