CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Guardians have placed catcher Austin Hedges on the Concussion Injured List, keeping him out for a minimum of seven days. The veteran was hit in the back of the head on Wednesday night in New York on a backswing from Jazz Chisholm in the 9th inning. “He was experiencing some low level concussion symptoms yesterday, and those haven’t gone away,” Stephen Vogt said before Friday’s game against Houston. This is Hedges fifth trip in his career to the Concussion Injured List.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Guardians find themselves without their center fielder and 2-hitter for the second time this year. After missing games on Tuesday and Wednesday with plantar fascitis, Lane Thomas was placed on the Injured List on Friday. It is his second stint on the IL having missed time earlier in the year with a wrist injury. Thomas was sent to a specialist this week, the club learned from that visit that this will not be something that will go away any time soon.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The NBA announced on Friday night that two of the Cavaliers best players have also been recognized as two of the league’s best. Donovan Mitchell was named First Team All-NBA. Mitchell started 71 games this season with averages of 24.0 points (16th-best in NBA), 4.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.34 steals (23rd in NBA) in 31.4 minutes per game. Evan Mobley was named Second Team after his outstanding year.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Philadelphia can “Push On” as they sent out on social media after it’s signature play, the Tush Push, was not banned at the NFL Spring Meetings on Tuesday in Minneapolis. CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - David Fry was in Akron on Tuesday to play in the RubberDucks game as part of his rehab from elbow surgery after last season. Fry had a base hit in the third inning, finishing the day 1-3 with a run batted in.
