For the first time in 25 years, the province is making changes to the graduated driver’s licensing regime. The key change is removing the second road test for every new driver, according to B.C. Premier David Eby. “The data shows that experienced driving is what reduces the risk of collision. Rather than an exit test. There were no complaints at the pump on Tuesday morning. With B.C.’s consumer carbon tax gone, drivers are now saving approximately 17 cents for every litre. In 2008, the B.C. Liberal Government introduced the Carbon Tax Act. The policy adds carbon taxes to fossil fuels burned for transportation, home heating, and electricity. It reduced personal income taxes and corporate taxes by roughly the equal amount. Then-finance minister Carole Taylor announced it during the budget in February 2008.

After spinal surgery earlier this month, a Victoria woman is now recuperating in a hospital hallway under a blanket fort nurses set up so she has some privacy.
