SIOUX CITY -- A historic painted Hamm's Beer advertisement has emerged from hiding on the wall of a west side bar. The east-facing exterior wall of the Red Room Lounge, 1000 West Seventh St., was for many years covered in deteriorating red and white siding.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY — Multiple emergency response agencies were called to a fire Wednesday evening at Meyer Inc., 532 Old Sawmill Road. According to a Dakota County Sheriff's deputy on the scene, crews were called to the fire around 6:40 p.m. at the business south of Highway 20 and west of Highway 77. The blaze could be seen for miles in the area.

SIOUX CITY -- Nothing Bundt Cakes, a national chain of bakeries that sells, as its name suggests, Bundt cakes, is planning to open a Sioux City location. The bake shop will be at the Lakeport Commons shopping center, 5001 Sergeant Road, the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce wrote in a social media post. It was not immediately clear when the bakery plans to open.

SIOUX CITY -- Nisa Salmen couldn't be happier with where Hardline Coffee ended up. On Halloween, the coffeeshop opened in the Levich Building, 1004 Fourth St. It was the third time Hardline welcomed customers to a new downtown location since 2019. This, Salmen said, will be a long-term place. "It has been great," she said.

SIOUX CITY -- Rush Bowls, a national chain of health-food eateries, has opened a location in Lakeport Commons. The restaurant, 5001 Sergeant Road, had its grand opening this past weekend, Rush Bowls wrote in a post on its Facebook page. Rush Bowls' specialty is açaí and smoothie bowls, with a choice of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, plant milk and regular milk, protein, granola, juice, as well as other options. Sioux City's Rush Bowls is the only location to date in the tri-state area.
