On Wednesday night, district officials met to discuss the changes. Among the changes being discussed is a policy to mandate all staff learn about allergic reactions once a semester, as opposed to one a year.

AUSTIN, Texas — Dripping Springs ISD is joining other Central Texas school districts in allowing chaplains to volunteer as mental health professionals in schools. Monday night’s school board vote stems from a new state law that allows public schools to use chaplains in mental health support roles. District leaders say they welcome the help but believe mental health support should be left to trained and educated professionals.

AUSTIN, Texas — One of the pilots involved in a crash that occurred in South Florida on Tuesday was from Austin. According to the Broward (Fla.) Sheriff's Office, the two pilots have been identified as 37-year-old Khadim Kebe from Texas and 51-year-old Mohamed Badenjki from North Miami, Fla. The two were flying a single-engine Cessna plane that crashed Tuesday evening in the Everglades region of South Florida, although it is unclear which of the two was actually piloting the plane.

TEXAS, USA — A retiring state senator has called for the impeachment trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton to be reopened months after voting to acquit. Sen. Drew Springer, a Republican from North Texas, sent a letter to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and his Senate colleagues asking if there was a legal way to reopen the impeachment proceedings. The letter comes after Paxton recently decided to not contest the facts of the whistleblower lawsuit filed against him and accept whatever the judge decides.
