    Planes could be grounded at Leeds-Bradford airport over Christmas and New Year as almost 50 workers - doing a "tough and vital job" - are set for strike action. Ramp agents who are employed by Swissport are taking 16 days of industrial action from December 19 to January 4 after their employer refused to make additional "de-icing" payments that Swissport workers in other airports receive. They are union members of Unite and are predominantly employed on Ryanair flights at the airport.

    The family of an ophthalmologist from Sheffield whose body was found at Ladybower Reservoir have paid a heartfelt tribute to "a beautiful soul". Mum-of-two Poonam Sachdeva, 44, had been struggling with her mental health for a number of years, she had a history of mental illness and psychosis. In 2014, Poonam was diagnosed with schizophrenia for which she took medication. She had had several relapses and had been referred to the crisis team several times previously.

    Two West Yorkshire dads have paid tribute to their daughters after they were murdered while answering a 999 call. PCs Nicola Hughes, 23, and Fiona Bone, 32, were killed in the line of duty while responding to a 999 call in Hattersley, Greater Manchester in 2012. They were murdered by Dale Cregan in a gun and grenade attack. Now their dads, Bryn Hughes from Huddersfield, and Paul Bone from Pool in Wharfedale, have become the first to receive an Elizabeth Emblem award on behalf of their daughters.
