Walsh Jesuit (20-8) will play in the OHSAA Division II state baseball tournament. The Warriors will play Anthony Wayne in the state semifinal on Friday, June 13. Walsh Jesuit's top players include Shawn Sullivan, Harper Lann, and Matthew Mansbery. The team is known for its strong defense and pitching. Walsh Jesuit has won four state championships in baseball. The OHSAA baseball state tournament returns to Northeast Ohio this weekend with 28 teams playing for a state championship.

Tallmadge High School's softball team ended its season with a 2-0 loss to Boardman in the OHSAA Division III, Region 11 regional semifinal. Tallmadge, led by seven graduating seniors, won a district championship for the third consecutive year. Despite starting the season 2-7, Tallmadge rallied with impressive wins over strong teams, including Green, Manchester and South Range. Tallmadge's seniors emphasized the team's strong bond and "we before me" mentality as key to their success.

Two of the four boys volleyball teams in the Division II state tournament this weekend at Wittenberg University hail from Summit County. St. Vincent-St. Mary is a state tournament participant for the fourth year in a row and Nordonia is in the state final four for the first time. This is the seventh season of boys volleyball for the Irish and the third season for the Knights.

Norton (22-3) enters a baseball district final with 18 wins in its past 19 games. The Panthers had a 16-game win streak, have thrown three no-hitters and have three walk-off wins. The team's success is attributed to strong team chemistry, timely hitting, and a dominant pitching staff. Senior leadership and contributions from underclassmen have been key factors in Norton's impressive season. Norton defeated West Geauga 12-2 to advance to a district final against Hubbard.

Here's a look at the next game for each of those six teams, as well as their key players. A total of 13 Greater Akron area baseball teams are scheduled to play in OHSAA district tournament games this week with dreams of hoisting a state championship trophy at Canal Park in June.
