    BERRYVILLE — Clarke County's first Peace Pole will be dedicated at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Park in downtown Berryville. The Rotary Club of Clarke County is installing the pole near the gazebo in the park, between East Main Street and the Barns of Rose Hill on Chalmers Court. Peace Poles are a project of Rotary International, the club's parent organization, intended to inspire unity among people of all cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds worldwide.

    BERRYVILLE — Come help the crew at the John H. Enders Fire Company & Rescue Squad push their newest truck into the firehouse. Nothing is wrong with the truck; it can be backed into the building just fine. Rather, the "push-in" is a commemorative event to welcome the vehicle into Enders' fleet. The ceremony for the 2025 model Sutphen Monarch pumper will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the fire company on South Buckmarsh Street in downtown Berryville.

    BERRYVILLE — A federal government executive is joining Clarke County as its new director of joint administrative services (JAS). Steven Nucci will start his position June 2. He will shadow current JAS Director Brenda Bennett for a month, learning about county operations, before she retires at the end of the fiscal year on June 30. JAS is the combined finance department for the county and its school division.

    BERRYVILLE — At 6:30 p.m. June 17, the Clarke County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on a new traffic infraction being proposed by Clarke County Commonwealth's Attorney Matthew Bass. Bass's recommendation would enable officers to charge people for not devoting their full time and attention to driving while behind the wheel. If approved, it would be added to the county's code.
