    SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Police discovered far more sinister crimes after a domestic violence call in February, after searching a man's phone, according to an affidavit of facts filed with the Spokane County Superior Court. Christopher S. Marsh was arrested Monday afternoon for nearly 30 counts of Child Sex Abuse Material (CSAM). According to court documents, police first had an encounter with Marsh and his partner on February 8, 2025.

    SPOKANE, Wash. -- Indigenous artist kʷaɁowišč tyee Inanna McCarty was chosen to be Spokane Falls Community College's inaugural Artist-in-Residence for the sƛ̓ xẹ tkʷ program. She will work out of the new “sƛ̓ xẹ tkʷ” (ska-hét) Fine Arts building on campus, which is the traditional, Salish name of Spokane Falls and translates to "fast water."McCarty descends from the Tsawout First Nations, Nuu-chah-nulth and Coast Salish families, born and raised in the Makah Tribe in Western Washington.

    SPOKANE, Wash. -- A student Odyssey at Libby Center in Spokane has been named as a finalist in NASA's Power to Explore Challenge. Lilah Coyan wrote an essay on how Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS) could be used to explore one of about 300 moons in our solar system. RPS is a nuclear battery system that uses heat to create electric power for machines that traverse the darkest, dustiest and most distant places in our solar system.

    SPOKANE, Wash. -- A man convicted of 2nd-degree murder on the Colville Indian Reservation in 2022 was sentenced to 17 years in prison. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Eastern District of Washington, 38-year-old Steven Zacherle got into an argument with his intimate partner near a gas station in Indian Country on October 18, 2022. Court documents showed his partner drove away without Zacherle after he went inside the store.

    SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced Friday that the Keller Ferry that crosses the Columbia River on Highway 21 was out of service. WSDOT advised motorists to set aside more time to travel, and use Highway 25, or Highway 155 and Highway 174. Transportation did not disclose what caused the ferry to go out of service, nor did officials provide an estimated time for service.
