OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - One of the people involved in an Owensboro triple murder has been sentenced. Cylar Shemwell pleaded guilty during the middle of his trial in last month. He was sentenced for three counts of complicity to commit murder and one count of criminal complicity to commit assault. Shemwell was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison. As we reported in 2019, Jay Sowders, Christopher Carie, and Robert Smith were all shot and killed on Audubon Avenue.

HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - The Supreme Court upheld a federal ban on domestic abusers from possessing firearms, which is a major victory for the Biden Administration and gun control advocates. The ruling was 8-to-1 in favor of the ban. The majority ruled that when a court finds someone poses a credible threat, it is consistent with the Second Amendment to keep that person from owning guns.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - After hours of deliberation, an emotional ending followed a high-profile murder trial in Vanderburgh County. 52-year-old Elizabeth Fox-Doerr was found guilty for murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of her late husband, Evansville Firefighter Robert Doerr in February of 2019.

Evansville, Ind. (WFIE) - On an overnight weekend camping trip in Old Ben Scout Reservation in Winslow, Indiana, disaster struck Boy Scout Troop 352. In the early morning hours, a tree fell onto a tent with three sleeping scouts inside, one of them being 11-year-old Ethan Hills. Hills had to be flown to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville with a traumatic head injury.
