PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Temperatures in Central Illinois have been anything but consistent over the past several weeks. One day you are wearing shorts, the next day you find yourself grabbing the winter coat yet again. When will temperatures finally start to level out? The ups and downs are all a normal part of the seasonal transition in the Midwest. For April so far, temperatures have taken a chilly turn. In the first nine days of the month, all but one day have been colder than average.

No doubt we have seen a trend this spring of drier conditions north of I-72 in Illinois. Peoria has been very dry for May so far. Meanwhile, it's the opposite downstate where the rain has struggled to shut off. #ILwx https://t.co/iXIbeXwEAc

A "rex block" pattern for the weekend. Warm and sunny weather in the Midwest, cooler and stormy in the South. https://t.co/JctUqv1FRQ

It looks like somebody took a pencil and drew lines across the sky! These are actually condensation trails from aircraft. We have just the right combo of cold air and humidity aloft. This is just heated exhaust from aircraft that cools and condenses into thin cloud streaks. https://t.co/FAhdV3Qjh7
