UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – An Upshur County man was sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to online solicitation of a minor. According to the Upshur County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Gary Kenneth Rumbaugh, 57 of Upshur County, was contacting children on Facebook Messenger about two years ago. During that time, a child that was messaging Rumbaugh reportedly told him she was 12-years-old.

HENDERSON, Texas (KETK) – After facing reassignment and being allowed to continue his role in August, the Henderson ISD athletic director has now been reassigned and the position is vacant. Clay Freeman, who was named athletic director in May 2021, confirmed to KETK on Thursday he has been reassigned and the district is now accepting applications for the position. Earlier this year, members of the community rallied to support Freeman while the school board made their decision.

MARSHALL, Texas (KETK) – The congregation of First Methodist Church held a prayer service Wednesday night to mourn but also to keep hope for the future after their building was consumed by flames. Two days after the devastating fire destroyed the historic Marshall church, dozens of congregation and community members came together to mourn and pray for a new beginning. During the service, the First Methodist pastor could barely hold back tears.

TYLER, Texas (KETK) – The Tyler Fire Department responded to a Wednesday afternoon house fire where a firefighter was injured. According to Tyler Fire Battalion Chief David Admire a firefighter was sent to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries after responding to an apartment complex fire at 1:20 p.m. on Erwin Street. No one in the apartment was injured and officials said the house was a total loss.

ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Huntington residents and visitors now won’t have to travel far to satisfy their McDonald’s cravings as the fast food chain is setting up shop in the small city. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation said the new construction project will be located at 700 U.S. 69. According to the city’s website, they have about 2,025 residents and occupy about 2.75 square miles between acres of national forest lands.
