    TYLER, Texas — An East Texas student was recently named the first-ever student regent from UT Tyler. Luke Schwartz, of Tyler, is one of the eight appointed student regents from University of Texas System universities. His term started June 1, 2025, and it is set to expire May 31, 2026. "We are confident that he will represent the students of the UT System with integrity and dedication. Congratulations, Luke," UT Tyler said in a social media post.

    ROUND ROCK, Texas — The Pleasant Grove Hawks fell to the Corpus Christi Calallen Wildcats in the 4A Division 1 state baseball championship. The Hawks lost to the the Wildcats with a score of 5-3 at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, becoming the state runner-ups. This was Pleasant Grove's first appearance in the state tournament since 2021 when the team won the championship.

He’s stepping in to help fellow kids when they take a tumble. Before the gates fly open, the rodeo starts behind the scenes with some face paint and a little mutton mischief.

    JACKSONVILLE, Texas — Overton High School baseball coach Chris Cook, who just led the Mustangs to the state championship game, is heading to Jacksonville. Jacksonville ISD Athletic Director Montey Stevenson announced on Twitter that Cook will be joining the Fightin' Indians staff. The announcement comes a day after the Mustangs competed in the 2A state championship, becoming the state runner-ups.

Meet Dustin Boquet, a pro bull rider from Louisiana now living in East Texas. He has a job that kicks and sells all the tickets. "(I'm) 31 now, I started when I was 16," Boquet said. For 15 years, Boquet has been climbing on top of 2,000 pounds of testosterone -- for sport. Dustin weighs just about 143 pounds.
