Former officers Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley and Justin Smith, Jr. were all charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression. The state trial had been underway since April 28.

xAI is removing some gas turbines at its Memphis facility due to a new substation and Tesla Megapack batteries coming online. About half of the turbines will continue operating until a second substation is completed in 2025. This announcement comes as xAI's application for a permit for permanent use of 15 gas turbines is under review. The Greater Memphis Chamber says some of the gas turbines at xAI will soon be removed.
