The Commercial Appeal, often referred to as the Memphis Commercial Appeal, is a daily newspaper serving Memphis, Tennessee, and the nearby metropolitan area. It is currently owned by Gannett Company. Previously, it was owned by the E. W. Scripps Company, which also published the now-defunct afternoon newspaper, the Memphis Press-Scimitar, before it was discontinued in 1983.
