The City of Pelham officially opened a state-of-the art NHL Street Hockey Court this week. As reported by Bham Now in April, the city, which is home to the Birmingham Bulls and University of Alabama Hockey teams, began building the court after it established a very popular NHL Street Hockey league in the summer of 2024. In addition to Street Hockey, the new court can also be used for soccer. “Last year, we joined the NHL Street Hockey program, bringing it to Pelham for the first time.

The newly renovated Willie Mays Parks was unveiled last week in Fairfield. A joint effort between Major League Baseball and the Fairfield community, a new turf baseball diamond and scoreboard was installed along with freshly painted dugouts and stands. At the Juneteenth event, State Senator Merika Coleman, a champion of the park’s restoration, announced she had secured $325,000 from the state for additional park rehabilitation and community-driven enhancements and programs.

Inside, guests will find a pop culture museum with nearly 26,000 vintage collectibles. According to Hollis, he saw a magazine article about a fellow that collected cartoon character toys back in 1981.
