BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) – Longtime NFL offensive line coach Paul Alexander is part of the 35th Midwest Lineman’s Camp at Illinois Wesleyan this week. Over 300 players from around Illinois descended upon IWU to particpate in the Sunday-Tuesday camp. Alexander coached the Cincinnati Bengals from 1994-2017 and had stints with the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets. The longtime pro ball coach said he loves mentoring young athletes who play in positions so often overlooked on the field.

BLOOMINGTON, Illinois (WMBD) – Team Blue took home a 23-7 win over Team Red at the Shrine All-Star football game at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. Le Roy lineman Tate Sigler played both ways in the trenches for Team Blue and earned offensive MVP honors. Farmington graduate Lane Wheelwright threw what wound up being the game-winning touchdown pass in the third quarter. That drive was set up by an interception by Metamora’s Avery Grebner.

LE ROY, Illinois (WMBD) – Saturday will mark the last time Le Roy graduate Bo Zeleznik will don a Panther helmet. The Shrine All-Star game at Illinois Wesleyan will help raise money for children with physical disabilities, a cause close to Bo’s heart. “Both my siblings being born with mental disabilities, so I kind of understand what it’s like to grow up around it and to support them,” Zeleznik said.

EP senior Jackson Ahrens juggles sports commitments around his business duties The North vs. South game featured primarily athletes from smaller schools, with the South winning 10-5. Team South put up four runs in the second, but the North responded with five in the bottom half.
