BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WROC) – The Brighton boys lacrosse team defeated Spencerport 14-10 on Friday night to pick up its ninth win of the season. It was a back-and-forth battle in the first half. After being tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter, Spencerport took the lead at the half, pulling ahead 8-7. Brighton then outscored Spencerport 7-2 in the second half to come from behind and take the win. Brighton (9-4) will host Hamburg Central on Wednesday, May 14th.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – After leading 5-1 at the half, the McQuaid boys lacrosse team put together a seven-goal third quarter to power it to a 14-5 win over Rush-Henrietta. John Burrows led the way with four goals for the Knights, followed by Dominic Bianchi, Will Engle and JP Gianforti with two goals each. Will DiMarco, Domenic Giangreco, Jackson Natapow and AJ Quagrello also tallied a goal each for the Knights. McQuaid (8-3) will host Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse) on Saturday, May 10th.

PENFIELD, N.Y. (WROC) – The Penfield flag football team picked up its seventh win in a row after defeating Gates Chili 59-6 on Thursday night. The Patriots scored on their first possession with a receiving touchdown from Molly Brown and never looked back. Just five minutes into the first half, Penfield had a two-touchdown lead.

The Primetime 585 Spotlight Team of the Week is the Avon softball team. On Tuesday, the Riverhawks faced Geneseo in a highly anticipated pitchers duel between Avon’s Jessie Crye and Geneseo’s Addie McDonald. Avon came out on top, as Crye threw a one-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts. Crye also led her team to the win at the plate, leading off the fourth inning with a triple. She then scored the game’s only run on a sacrifice fly by Rylie Miller.
