FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WROC) – Fairport baseball took down Rush-Henrietta in the Class AAA semifinals on Saturday, defeating the Royal Comets 6-1. Rush-Henrietta got on the board in the top of the first inning, but Fairport responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning and held the lead from there. The Red Raiders added two runs in the second inning and one in the fourth to come away with the win. Fairport (13-8) advances to the Class AAA final where it will face McQuaid on Tuesday.

After both its girls and boys teams won the Victor Invitational last week, Penfield track and field is the Spotlight Team of the Week. For the boys, Micah Davis won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.16. He is currently ranked first in Section V in the event. The boys 4×100 relay of Gavin Dovholuk, Micah Davis, Michael Cassata and Nick Walker took first place with a time of 42.30 to set a meet record.

Over three games last week, Bloomfield’s Ashlyn Wright struck out 45 batters and pitched a perfect game to lead the Bombers to three wins. Her perfect outing came on Tuesday to give Bloomfield to a 4-0 win. Wright accounted for all 21 outs, including 18 strikeouts. The next day, she tallied 15 strikeouts to earn a shutout victory. Wright ended her week with another 12 strikeouts to pick up a 6-1 win, Bloomfield’s seventh victory in a row.
