    One of Rochester’s best-known historical figures is getting more attention in the local court system. Ceremonies were held this week at the Hall of Justice in downtown Rochester, to mark the unveiling of a restored marble bust of Susan B. Anthony, as well as naming one of the courtrooms in honor of the famed suffragist. That bust, which previously had been at a Rochester school, and then at the Susan B. Anthony Museum and House, is now housed at the Hall of Justice.

    A jail deputy in Monroe County faces charges after he allegedly enabled an inmate at the county jail to assault another prisoner, and failed to intervene. That’s according to details released Friday by Sheriff Todd Baxter about Deputy Dominic Kujawa, who has been indicted on Assault in the 2nd Degree, which is a felony, and Official Misconduct, which is a misdemeanor charge. Baxter said another inmate alerted a Major at the jail about the alleged incident, which led to the investigation.

    Genesee Brewery officials on Thursday showed off their new $28 million can line. That equipment is part of the $50 million investment announced last year. Piotr Jurjewicz is the CEO of the brewery’s parent company, FIFCO USA, and said the new can line will help Genesee meet demand for its products as well as the beverages it produces for other companies on a contract basis, like Labatt.

    There’s a new street safety initiative coming to downtown Rochester. The Downtown SmART Streets program is led by the nonprofit transportation organization Reconnect Rochester, and it will combine traffic-calming infrastructure with public art. Project Manager Lourdes Sharp said the initiative involves murals at the intersections painted by local artists, as well as traffic-calming measures such as plastic bollards that will be put up in the intersections on a seasonal basis.

    Ontario County deputies are looking to the public for help in getting more information about a recent animal cruelty case. They say that on Tuesday afternoon, the Ontario County Humane Society responded to a report of an abandoned dog and her puppies at Ontario County Park in South Bristol. Animal Control officers discovered a box containing an emaciated female beagle mother and her four puppies, abandoned in a corner of a pavilion within the park.
