GADSDEN, Ala. (WBRC) - A woman’s body was found this week after she disappeared while floating in the gorge at Noccalula Falls. Park Director Christina Richardson says the park is safe and this week’s tragedy is not what anyone wanted. “Lots of rain, the water flow is much stronger. There is actually a city ordinance in place that says you can’t swim below the waterfall,” said Richardson. Richardson says Regina Smith’s death is the second in her 12 years at the park.

GADSDEN, Ala. (WBRC) - First responders in Etowah County are searching for a missing woman who was last seen Sunday night, May 25, at Noccalula Falls in Gadsden. Officials say the woman was on a flotation device in the water at the bottom of the gorge when she disappeared. Sunday night around 7:30 p.m., Gadsden Fire Chief Vance Brown says his department received a call from someone saying that one of their family members was missing at Noccalula Falls.

GADSDEN, Ala. (WBRC) - The City of Gadsden could soon be adding dozens of new homes and new home construction after city leaders approved the annexation of two areas this week. Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford says developers are already calling him wanting to be a part of his GROW Gadsden Plan. Ford says the city recently annexed in a portion of Whorton Bend after three developers showed interest in becoming a part of Gadsden.

OHATCHEE, Ala. (WBRC) - A family in Ohatchee is devastated trying to figure out what to do after powerful storms blew through Tuesday night. The family’s home has major damage after the roof was torn off from the strong winds. Misty Thomas has been overwhelmed with emotions and can’t stop crying.She says looking at what’s left of her childhood home brings a pain she can’t explain. “All her stuff, and memories and pictures, everything is ruined. I don’t know what else to say right now,” said Thomas.
