Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille is celebrating its opening as a butcher shop in 1979 with a #FlashbackFriday event where the first 100 visitors at each of its three suburban locations will get a 79-cent Pork Chop Friday lunch. The restaurant will announce the date on its social media channels. No one was injured Monday during a fire at a commercial warehouse in Aurora that started when a propane-powered forklift caught fire, causing the attached tank to explode. According to a press release, the Aurora Fire Department responded on April 14 at about 4:45 p.m. to the 800 block of Enterprise Street. Firefighters found smoke coming from the warehouse.

The important stuff happens early with church or Easter egg fun with the kids. And unlike Christmas morning, almost every restaurant is open. Though it’s getting a little late in the game, you can still find restaurants around the suburbs with Easter brunch specials and reservations available as of early this week.

Aurora police are investigating an early Saturday morning shooting that left a man dead. According to a press release, police responded to a call for a person with a weapon on the 400 block of Weston Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. on April 12. When officers arrived they found a 35-year-old man with two gunshot wounds.

Santa’s Village in East Dundee will greet its 66th season with new attractions when it opens next month. The amusement park and petting zoo will be open weekends starting 11 a.m. on May 17. Regular hours begin in June. The water park, Santa Springs, will open May 24 for Memorial Day weekend and remain open through Labor Day. Three new attractions are slated to open this year at the theme park at 601 Dundee Ave. near the intersection of routes 25 and 72, according to a news release.
