    Age 83, of Moorhead, MN (formerly of Duluth, MN) passed away on June 2, 2025. Duane was one of seven children born to C.Lloyd and Evelyn Fike. He graduated from Moorhead High School and he proudly served in the Air Force and the Air Force Reserves from 1960 until 1966. In October 1962, he married Carol (Warner) Fike in Sisseton, SD. Duane worked for over 35 years at Northwestern Bell, later US West.

    Agatha Schaffer was born in 1934 to Baltzer B and Katherine (Wangler) Weigel in Napoleon, ND. She passed away peacefully with Family by her side on June 23, 2025 at Essentia Health Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN at the age of 91. As a young girl she lived the farm life with her 6 siblings and learned to speak English when she went to first grade. Agatha met her life partner Herman Schaffer at a dance in Napoleon and were married in 1954. Together they made their home in Edgeley, ND for 44 years.

    WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — A Moorhead student was caught up in an onstage scare at a national speech and debate competition going on in Iowa. According to the organization’s Facebook post, an unidentified person entered the stage on the afternoon of Thursday, June 19, during the National Speech and Debate Association competition at the Iowa Events Center. The person was subdued and removed from the building. There were no weapons involved, and no threats were made.

    FARGO — Two Fargo-Moorhead higher education institutions have joined forces to prepare students for a pharmacy career. North Dakota State University’s College of Health and Human Sciences and Concordia College signed onto a new partnership on Tuesday, June 17, inside Aldevron Tower on NDSU's campus. NDSU Provost David Bertolini said the university has a great partner in Concordia.
