Ofsted visited Idle CofE Primary School, which caters for 414 pupils, on January 28 and 29. The school, located on Boothroyd Drive in Idle, received the 'Requires improvement' rating when it came to quality of education, leadership and management, and early years provision.

Yorkshire Water will be beginning the second phase of a £1.5m project to replace approximately 3.5km of water mains in Laisterdyke. Phase one saw the replacement of mains on Leeds Road over four weeks. Phase two, which begins on Tuesday, May 6 at 8am will see contractors, Sapphire Utility Solutions, replacing a section of the mains on Leeds Old Road at the junction of Thornbury roundabout and Leeds Old Road towards Bradford.
