A man has been arrested after €50,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a business premises in Dublin city centre in the early hours of Friday morning. At approximately 2.45am, Gardaí were alerted to reports of a burglary at a jewellers on Kildare Street in Dublin 2. Gardai quickly arrived on the scene where they encountered a suspect who fled the scene on foot. The man was observed entering St Stephen’s Green park and was pursued by Gardaí on foot.

Tributes have poured in for a young father-of-two who "inspired so many people" by documenting his battle with cancer on social media. David Griffin, from Portlaoise in Co Laois and formerly of Idrone Park in Co Carlow, passed away on Wednesday at the Beacon Hospital in Dublin, surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness.
