An investigation is under way into the death of a man whose body was found in an apartment in Co Dublin. Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of a body at a residential property at Viking Harbour on the South Quays in Dublin 8 on Monday afternoon. The man, who was in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to the mortuary where a postmortem examination is due to be carried out.

Over €30,000 has been raised to support the family of a six-month-old baby from Co Galway who has spent more than half his life in hospital battling a rare and life-threatening condition. Rían Ó Márta was born last October with a condition called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), which occurs when the diaphragm – the muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen – fails to close during prenatal development.

Gardai are seeking help from locals in reuniting a diamond ring found in Co Cork with its rightful owner. The expensive looking ring, which is roughly the same size as a 5 cent coin, was handed in to the local garda station after being found by a member of the public in Cobh at the weekend. The band, which appears to be an engagement ring, is made of silver and has a large central diamond fitted in place with six prongs.

Over 2,800 drivers were detected for speeding offences throughout the Easter Bank Holiday weekend - with one driver in Co Longford caught travelling more than 115km/h over the speed limit. Gardaí carried out an extensive Garda Roads Policing Operation between 7am on Thursday, April 17 to 7am Tuesday, April 22. There were three fatalities on Irish roads during this period.
