GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — While May is typically one of the rainiest months in West Michigan, only 13 days throughout the month recorded measurable rainfall thus far. Despite less than half of days this month producing rain, Grand Rapids is only trending around a half inch below average. Holland, on the other hand, is trending more than an inch and half below average. This has left just a few spots in West Michigan in abnormally dry conditions, or the first level of the drought monitor.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The average high temperature for the month of May is slightly below average, sitting at 67 degrees. The warmer air will win out in West Michigan starting in early June! While the average first 80 degree day typically comes in late April and early June for West Michigan cities, Grand Rapids has only managed to hit 80 degrees three times this year. The 80s become significantly more prominent into early June. All signs point to a stretch that could last most of the week.

While high temperatures remain near 50 degrees Friday, mid-50s to 60s arrive for the remainder of the weekend. By Memorial Day, highs will be in the mid-60s. It will, however, likely feel a bit better when spending time outdoors.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Though it has been a cool and rainy week across West Michigan, warmer and drier weather is on the horizon for the holiday weekend. While widespread showers are not expected into the weekend, enough moisture will be in place for a few isolated showers. The best chance of showers is for Friday and Saturday, especially for areas inland. A sprinkle is possible near and north of the Big Rapids area Sunday, followed by a few more showers trending north Monday.
