Penn High School softball coach Beth Zachary believes that her players should make a difference both on and off the playing field. That's why the Kingsmen plan to make a difference in the lives of some children at the Beacon Children's Hospital in South Bend. Penn will host a Teddy Bear toss prior to its varsity game versus rival Mishawaka on Wednesday, April 16. The team will collect new teddy bears and blankets at the contest that will be donated to the hospital.

The South Bend Trinity at Greenlawn boys golf program burst on the scene in a historic way during the 2024 season. Can history repeat itself this time around for the Titans? Coach Jerry Janowski's squad won the program's first-ever sectional crown a season ago in just its third year of team competition in the IHSAA. It then placed second at the regional round before wrapping up postseason play with a 15th-place finish at the Indiana State Finals.

There are a couple of sure things come every Spring. Taxes come due and the South Bend Saint Joseph's and Penn girls' tennis programs will be among the best in the area and into the state tournament series. Those two facts should ring true again in 2025. The Huskies will look to reload for coach Bill Mountford after posting a 22-1 mark a season ago that culminated with a state championship.

The area high school softball landscape will feature plenty of changes for the 2025 season. Chief among the differences will be the movement of several strong teams to different classes and the notable absence of South Bend Saint Joseph superstar pitcher Berkley Zache. One thing that remains constant throughout this Spring will be the expected excellence of the Penn High School softball program. The Kingsmen, who went 27-7 overall and won the Northern Indiana Conference title at 11-0, are loaded.

ELKHART — The Riley boys basketball team had a magical season full of championships. The Wildcats can always say too that it took the state's best team to put an end to that tremendous run of success. Top-ranked and defending state champion Fishers lived up to its lofty billing and then some Saturday to sideline the Wildcats. Fishers flew to a quick start en route to downing Riley 82-46 in a Class 4A Semi-state semifinal game at North Side Gym.
