A 30-year-old from Somis was arrested over allegations he’s responsible for gang graffiti in Camarillo. In April, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit began investigating the so-called Barry Street criminal street gang located in the City of Camarillo. “This investigation stemmed from the uptick in ‘Barry Street’ gang graffiti,” Senior Deputy Frank Corona said in a statement.

new top executive won’t have to travel far to settle in. After five years as assistant city manager, PJ Gagajena will drop the “assistant” from his title on June 28. He won unanimous approval of the five-member City Council and will succeed Troy Brown, who announced his retirement last year. “I’m incredibly honored and blessed by the City Council’s trust and support,” Gagajena said in the announcement of his new job.

You can cheer on those sworn to protect while helping those with special needs at the 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics of Southern California. The race involving members of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office begins at 2 p.m. June 4, at Finney’s Crafthouse, 580 Ventura Blvd., in Camarillo, running through Old Town before ending back at Finney’s. Some street closures may be in place in the area around that time.
