Around €500,000 in damage has been caused to vehicles and facilities at a site used by the Office of Public Works in Co Kildare. Four vehicles were overturned, a construction vehicle was driven into a river, and wires on four CCTV units were cut on the lands of Donaghcumper House over the Bank Holiday weekend. The site is used as a base to transport staff to Castletown House in OPW vehicles.

A 1.2-hectare site located between Whitewater Shopping Centre and Newbridge Silverware in Newbridge is being proposed for potential redevelopment by the Land Development Agency (LDA). The LDA is a commercial, State-sponsored body that has been created to coordinate land within public control to provide affordable and social homes across Ireland. Cllr ChrisPenderhas called for the site to be strongly considered for community, recreational and sporting infrastructure.

Punchestown will deliver another great festival, according to the CEO of Kildare-headquartered Horse Racing Ireland (HRI). Suzanne Eade said that the Punchestown Festival plays a vital role in the success of the horse racing industry in Ireland.
