Hubbard County commissioners gathered with key stakeholders in the law enforcement center (LEC) remodeling project on Tuesday morning, May 13. Along with Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes, representatives from ICS and BKV Group threw a shovelful of dirt for a ground-breaking ceremony. The project involves a new garage, administrative space, dispatch, booking and lobby areas at the LEC, along with remodeled jail cells and alterations to the government center.

Laura Morger has expanded her business empire. The owner of RedBarn-MN recently acquired Rustic Cabin Decor, located in downtown Park Rapids. The sale was completed in February 2025, and Morger held a grand opening on April 26. “I worked with the previous owners to get what their buying style was, what sold really well, what people in town liked,” Morger explained.

The Hubbard County Board reappointed Andrea Weleski as Hubbard County Highway Engineer on Tuesday, May 6. It’s a four-year term, ending April 30, 2029. In other related and other business, the board did this: Approved a memorandum of understanding with the city of Nevis. Weleski said the city is making some street improvements projects in conjunction with the county's CSAH 13 project.
