TUCSON — The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Gila District has a new manager and will fill the shoes of the former manager Scott Feldhausen who retired in January. Lance R. Brady, a native Arizonan who was born in Tucson and raised in Safford, will direct the management of over 2 million acres of desert, mountains and grasslands in eastern and southeastern Arizona, according to an email from June Lowrey, BLM media contact.

WILLCOX — The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) has been tasked with developing a model which will enable staff to determine just how much water is in all the nooks and crannies of the Willcox basin and others around the state. Rep. Gail Griffin (R–LD14) tasked the agency, which oversees water issues within the various basins in the state, to prepare a report so legislators can make more informed decisions before making rural groundwater policies, she stated.

People were getting the gear they needed to don before taking a seat on the original miner’s train for a historic trip into the tunnels of one of the country’s most productive copper mines of the 19th Century.
