    Dave Balon is a Saskatchewan born hockey player from Wakaw who went on to great success in the NHL, spanning a career through the 14 years, 1959-1974. He passed away in Prince Albert in 2007. Balon’s career ended when he retired due to a multiple sclerosis diagnosis Classic Auctions says it is honoured to present the Dave Balon personal collection, as a featured auction in Feb. 2025, open for bidding until Feb. 18. On Feb. 17, Balon's Stanley Cup ring lot was up to $4,028 in bids.

What started as a gathering of concerned mothers struggling to secure childcare, has now grown into a 10-member board of directors of a non-profit organization known as the Golden South Childcare Centre.
