    WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Two Trumbull County Commissioners met Friday with two state representatives to get a better handle on proposed changes to property taxes. Commissioners Denny Malloy and Tony Bernard met with State Representative David Thomas and Nick Santucci. The commissioners were concerned about legislation sponsored by Thomas in the state legislature that would decrease the amount of property tax money for entities like Trumbull County.

    WARREN TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – The legal proceedings to save the Leavittsburg dam are over. Warren Township Trustees announced during a meeting late Friday afternoon that they’re done fighting. The Leavittsburg Dam is scheduled to be demolished this summer, and it’s that demolition that Warren Township trustees have been fighting for six years.  Late Friday, Warren Township trustees unanimously agreed to stop all legal proceedings to stop the dam from being demolished.

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Downtown Youngstown’s Penguin City Brewing has been hosting a monthly night market for a year and a half. But tonight was the premiere of the reimagined version. Fifty artists filled the back area of Penguin City selling everything from rings, to t-shirts to artwork, popcorn, and taco sauce. The previous version of the night market was fading, but realizing the space could work, vendors Justin Haines and Heather Seno took over the night market and revived it.

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Construction on the west end of downtown Youngstown is complete. Now, the new landscaping is in full bloom for everyone to see. Not only are the perennials blooming, but so are the annuals. An extra 100 flower pots were added to downtown, bringing the total to 250.  On West Federal Street, daylilies are blooming in the new median. There are pots lining Phelps Street from Federal all the way to the amphitheater.  There are hundreds of thousands of new plantings.

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Youngstown City Council was busy at its meeting on Wednesday evening. Council failed to pass an ordinance that would have allocated $695,000 to buy 11 new vehicles for the police department. The vote was 4-2 against the ordinance. However, council did approve spending $120,000 with the Ohio Auditor of State to investigate how the police and fire departments are being operated.
