Lisa Osborne-Siefert became a consumer advocate shortly after her worst day as a parent, in 2011. She had walked into her 2-year-old son’s room to wake him from his afternoon nap and found his little body pinned under a tipped-over dresser. Shane Siefert had told his mom “Love you,” as he settled in for his nap. But at some point, the toddler got out of his bed and climbed on the dresser, which toppled onto him.
