Fakroune was arrested in January, charged with using threats and violence to shake down the owner of a Lincoln Park restaurant for $1.5 million he said he was owed.

OTTAWA—The 86-year-old man known as the Starved Rock killer won’t get a new trial. On Wednesday, Chester Weger lost his bid to have his conviction overturned in the bludgeoning death of one of three women killed in 1960 in Starved Rock State Park. “Every witness that testified about how the murders occurred did so based on hearsay, and none of the hearsay came from an eyewitness to the murders,” Judge Michael Jansz said in denying Weger’s request.

On Tuesday, Shantel Robinson looked directly into the hidden camera the feds installed in her Oak Lawn apartment complex during a drug investigation, authorities say. She and her boyfriend disconnected it, and on Wednesday investigators raided her apartment, where they say they discovered a clandestine laboratory used to package illegal drugs. The investigation included searches of a storage unit in Alsip and a house in Frankfort where Robinson’s boyfriend James Howard was living, officials say.
