Everybody wants a Gronk or a Kelce, a tight end who makes key catches in big games year after year. Or maybe it’s a Tony Gonzalez or an Antonio Gates, who may never see a Super Bowl but always are bright spots for organizations. The Browns had something like that with Ozzie Newsome, a tight end who was part of seven playoff appearances within 10 seasons, 1980-89. They have had none of it since. Along these lines, Harold Fannin Jr. strikes many Browns followers as an appealing target.

#InTheYear2000 We often debate “good owners” at my house. Part of the equation: Winning seasons this century. Scoreboard: Cavs 14, Indians/Guardians 14, Browns 4.

Browns leadership: Uber-serious. Perceived state of the franchise: Boring, tone-deaf. Suggestion: Do something really fun. For example, go out of your way to draft Harold Fannin.
