SPOKANE, Wash. — It's time to ooh and ahh at the night sky on Thursday night, March 13th for a total lunar eclipse! The lunar eclipse is when the full moon falls within the Earth's shadow and turn a blood- or rust-red color in the night sky. This is why sometimes this is known as the "Blood Moon" because the moon does change colors (unlike the blue moon: the second full moon in a month, or the pink moon: the full moon in April).

SPOKANE, Wash. — If you remember the cold snap in January, the coldest temperature we saw in Spokane was 13 degrees. Those days were clear at night with no snow on the ground. The forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday morning (February 11-12) easily features low temperatures in the single digits.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Get ready for a chance to see the northern lights on Thursday night in what could be a display that rivals what we saw back in May! A solar storm on the surface of the Sun just erupted an Earth-facing Class X9.0 solar flare, the most powerful on record since 2017. This is just the latest coronal mass ejection (CME) in what has been an incredibly active solar cycle.

SPOKANE, Wash. — With Autumn, cooler days, and the smell of Pumpkin Spice right around the corner, I thought now would be a good opportunity to look back at this past Summer which will ultimately go down as the third hottest on record thanks to the blistering and un-ending heat in July. First of all - this is technically for "meteorological summer" which always goes from July 1st to August 31st and not by the summer solstice and fall equinox dates, as those change from year to year.
