AbstractOur current understanding of the determinants of plasma proteome variation during pediatric development remains incomplete. Here, we show that genetic variants, age, sex and body mass index significantly influence this variation. Using a streamlined and highly quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics workflow, we analyzed plasma from 2,147 children and adolescents, identifying 1,216 proteins after quality control.

Cryptographic algorithms are essential to online security, and at Amazon Web Services (AWS), we implement cryptographic algorithms in our open-source cryptographic library, AWS LibCrypto (AWS-LC), based on code from Google’s BoringSSL project. AWS-LC offers AWS customers implementations of cryptographic algorithms that are secure and optimized for AWS hardware.

AbstractThe emerging use of biomarkers in research and tailored care introduces a need for information about the association between biomarkers and basic demographics and lifestyle factors revealing expectable concentrations in healthy individuals while considering general demographic differences. A selection of 47 biomarkers, including markers of inflammation and vascular stress, were measured in plasma samples from 9876 Danish Blood Donor Study participants.

AbstractThe inflammatory activity in cirrhosis is often pronounced and related to episodes of decompensation. Systemic markers of inflammation may contain prognostic information, and we investigated their possible correlation with admissions and mortality among patients with newly diagnosed liver cirrhosis. We collected plasma samples from 149 patients with newly diagnosed (within the past 6 months) cirrhosis, and registered deaths and hospital admissions within 180 days.
