But Thursday’s meeting also comes just weeks after a high school teacher was hit and killed by an 18-year-old fleeing from the California Highway Patrol.

    OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — On Friday, Castlemont High School held a graduation ceremony in Oakland without one of its most inspiring teachers. Marvin Boomer, a math teacher who led the school’s college preparatory program, was killed while walking with his girlfriend on East 21st Street in Oakland just two days before his senior students received their diplomas. Boomer and his girlfriend were struck by a stolen car that fled from California Highway Patrol officers Wednesday evening.
