    WASHINGTON, D.C. — President-elect Donald Trump is nominating Florida Republican Matt Gaetz for U.S. Attorney General. Wednesday’s news was followed closely by word that Gaetz was resigning from Congress. The resignation means the House Ethics Committee investigating Gaetz over allegations of sexual misconduct and illicit drug use will no longer have the ability to continue its probe, which was reportedly in its final stages.

    WASHINGTON, D.C.  — North Dakota Senator John Hoeven is among those on Capitol Hill supporting the Stand With Israel Act. Hoeven joined Idaho Senator Jim Risch and 32 of their Senate colleagues in introducing the legislation Wednesday. It’s aim is to combat what they are calling the persecution of Israel by the UN. The act would cut off funding to UN agencies that expel, downgrade, suspend or otherwise restrict the participation of the State of Israel.

    BISMARCK, ND — A Bismarck man is facing felony child porn charges for allegedly sharing nude video messages of girls under the age of 18. Tjaden Richter is accused of sending the videos through an account on a private chat messaging service. Two of the four felony charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. A trial is scheduled for January 29th.

    BISMARCK, ND — A report from North Dakota’s Fire Marshal’s Office says heat from natural gas flares from operations run by ConocoPhillips and Hess contributed to wildfires in western North Dakota last month. The report says the heat from the gas flares combined with high wind and dry vegetation to make a combustible combination for the wildfires.

    BISMARCK, ND — The North Dakota PSC is set to vote tomorrow on the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline project. If the three-person commission approves the plan, carbon emissions would be permanently stored underground west of Bismarck. The PSC denied the permit to Summit last year, but the company has since changed its route and appealed the decision.
