Austral Ecology

Austral Ecology

Austral Ecology is a peer-reviewed journal that focuses on the ecology of land, marine, and freshwater environments in the Southern Hemisphere. Published by Wiley, it serves as the official journal of the Ecological Society of Australia. The journal explores the ecological similarities between ecosystems in Australia and those found in southern Africa, South America, New Zealand, and Oceania. Many species in these areas share ancestral roots from the ancient supercontinent Gondwana. Originally founded in 1976 as the Australian Journal of Ecology, it adopted its current title in 2000. Since 2017, the journal has been led by editor-in-chief Nigel Andrew from the University of New England in New South Wales, Australia.
