East Renfrewshire Council says that to ensure your garden waste is collected from May 1, you should purchase your 2025/26 permit by April 14. Garden waste collections will only start once the new permit is on your brown bin. A spokesperson for the council said: “The price of the permit will remain at £52.20.

Motorist warned about parking restrictions near station (Image: NQ) Parking restrictions will be in place on a road near a station later this month. Motorists will be unable to park near Barrhead Station Chappell Street from its junction with Cross Arthurlie Street up to property number 8 on both sides on Tuesday, April 29. The restriction will be in force between 9.30am and 3.30pm. It is being put in place so that Openreach utility works can be carried out.
