The Burton ISD board of trustees on Monday approved the purchase of new instructional technology for students while also honoring the memory of a beloved teacher who passed away earlier in the day. The meeting opened on a somber note, with a prayer led by board President Jeff Harmon acknowledging the sudden death of sixth-grade teacher Kim Applewhite, who suffered a medical emergency on campus. “We just come to you with a heavy heart, dear Father, for our friend, Miss Kim Applewhite,” Harmon said.
