Last week, Texas Women’s University held a reception at Preston Hollow neighbors Catherine and Sam Susser’s home to introduce the community to the university. TWU Dallas President Monica Christopher, TWU Chancellor Carine Feyton and several students spoke on the university system, healthcare research and highly-ranking programs. ““Two passions of mine drew me to TWU’s mission: education and healthcare,” host, TWU Campaign Cabinet and DPLC Founding Member Catherine Susser said.
The Compass School of Texas to host second annual farmers market

The Compass School of Texas is preparing to host it’s second annual Compass in Bloom: Farmers Market on April 26. The annual event is open to the public, and aims to help students put their skills to the test in a real-world marketplace where they “sell handmade goods, market their creations and engage with the community.”Third grade students will provide sparkling water, dehydrated fruits and vegetables, energy-boosting health bars and homemade jams.

Ron Schwarz to share family’s Holocaust story

Lake Highlands United Methodist Church will host author and descendent of holocaust survivors Ron Schwarz in May. Ron is the son of Charles Schwarz, who lived in Nazi Germany as a boy before fleeing to France. As Nazi occupiers pushed deeper into Europe and their threat became increasingly evident, Charles fled through the treacherous mountain crossing at the French-Swiss border. Ron’s grandparents were among the 200,000 people sent to Dachau concentration camp.

Jesuit Soccer preps for state soccer semis

Jesuit Dallas beat Southlake Carroll 2-1 Tuesday and will advance to the UIL state soccer semifinals. After a scoreless first half, senior Noah McGough earned the game’s first goal to give the Rangers the lead. Senior Clyde Araiza put the ball in the net during overtime to secure the win. Jesuit (21-1-0) will now face Mesquite High at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 at Garland ISD’s Homer B. Johnson Stadium. The winner will travel to Georgetown’s Birkelbach Field for the state championship April 12.
Edgemere Senior Living to host inaugural Walk for Parkinson's

Later this month, Edgemere Senior Living is hosting the region’s annual Walk for Parkinson’s in a partnership with the Dallas Area Parkinson Society (DAYS) on April 12 from 8 to 11 a.m.The free event will feature emcee Amelia Mugavero, entertainment by the Honey Button Band and raffles. Those who register and make a $20 or more donation will receive an event T-shirt. “Parkinson’s is the fastest-growing neurological disease,” said Teresa Bates, executive director of Edgemere.
Galleria Dallas to host weeklong live performance event

Galleria Dallas will soon host a free weeklong event entitled ‘Sounds of Spring,’ which features more than a dozen performances from local choirs, bands, thespians, cheerleaders and dancers. “Sounds of Spring has become a favorite for our shoppers because of the quality of the local entertainment performing in the center,” said Galleria Dallas Marketing Director Megan Townsend.

Le Bistrot Bar Sardine, a Vandelay Hospitality concept that opened in late 2024, unveiled an all-day menu this week, featuring Parisian breakfast and lunch menus. According to a press release, the menu is available for walk-in seating only, Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.“Chef Eliott Azoulay, who moved to Dallas exclusively for this venture, brings a unique blend of French gastronomy and Mediterranean flavors to Bar Sardine’s dishes,” the press release stated.
