The Edwardsville Intelligencer

The Edwardsville Intelligencer is a daily newspaper located in Edwardsville, Illinois. It serves the communities of Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, and surrounding rural areas. Established in 1862, the newspaper has a long history. In 1960, it was sold by its longtime owner and publisher, Gilbert Giese, to the owner of the Holyoke Transcript-Telegram. Four years later, in 1964, Lindsay-Schaub Newspapers from Decatur, Illinois, took over ownership. The Hearst Corporation acquired the paper in 1979.
