The Sentinel-Record
The Sentinel-Record is a local newspaper that has been family-owned for generations. In 1929, Clyde Eber Palmer acquired both The Sentinel-Record and Hot Springs New Era from John A. Riggs. Riggs originally started the New Era, which was formed by merging the Daily Bulletin, established in the 1890s and acquired by him in 1911, with the Daily News, which he later integrated. Meanwhile, The Record was founded by John H. Higgins in 1899.
